Report summary
Petrel is an offshore sub-commercial gas field that was discovered in 1969 by an ARCO-led JV. It is 260 kilometres west of Darwin and straddles the maritime boundary between Northern Territory and Western Australia. Various development concepts have been studied over the decades including LNG, floating LNG (FLNG), and domestic piped gas sales.
