PetroChina is developing six shale gas projects - Changning, Weiyuan, Zhaotong, Taiyang, Luzhou, and Yuxi. The Lower Silurian Longmaxi Formation is the primary target across the six areas. Official estimates of the in-place shale gas resources of the area exceeds 70 tcf.
