Plataforma Deltana Block 2 is in the Columbus sub-basin, offshore eastern Venezuela. PDVSA made the original discovery of the Loran field in 1983, but the company quickly turned its attention elsewhere as the gas was considered stranded. PDVSA re-awarded the Plataforma Deltana acreage in 2003 to ChevronTexaco (now Chevron), who drilled the Loran-2X appraisal well and proved up the discovery.
