Q1 2018 pre-FID upstream project tracker: Asia and the Middle East lead the pack
Report summary
The first few months of 2018 have started strong, with 15 major projects sanctioned by May. Not only is this more than by the same period of 2017, but we are also seeing a greater focus on gas developments, particularly offshore Asia and onshore the Middle-East. But what remains the same is the industry's laser-focus on smaller, leaner upstream developments. The average project size and associated spend continues to decrease.
