A few strategically important projects were sanctioned in the past three months, including Santos' approval of the Barossa LNG project in Australia. It will be an important source of backfill volumes. Deepwater and LNG projects will drive investment for the remainder of the year. However, there is still much caution in the industry. Only the most important projects which also meet key economic and investment thresholds will be greenlit.
