Report summary
Our hedging analysis peer group added 362 kb/d in new crude hedges with a majority of new contracts consisting of 2023 protections. This group also added 8.8 bcf/d in new gas protections led by Appalachian producers Southwestern and EQT. Operators included in this report have hedged 20% of expected crude production and 42% of forecast gas production for 2022. In the near term, steep backwardation may prevent operators from layering on long-dated hedges.
