In September 2021, TotalEnergies and the Iraq government signed a series of contracts worth US$27 billion known as the Gas Growth Integrated Project (GGIP) to develop oil, gas, water desalination and solar power assets. The first phase requires the partners to invest US$10 billion over four years. The Ratawi Gas Hub is one of the main elements of the package deal.
