Sauts Oil, a private Kazakh E&P company, operates several oil fields in the South Turgai basin. Aggregate crude output reached about 20,000 b/d in 2014-15, underpinned by Kenlik and Southwest Karabulak. The latter is one of six fields discovered since 2006. The fields lie close to the Kazakhstan-China Oil Pipeline and most oil is now exported east.
