Report summary
The SCOOP STACK was once colloquially called the "next Permian", but that association is far from true today. As rigs began to flee in 2019, it was no secret that the complexity of the play was driving away activity. Though economics in some core sub-plays are attractive, the gassy nature of the rock creates parent-child risk. And while a few operators are continuing to invest, most of the SCOOP STACK struggles to compete with other Lower 48 plays.
