The Solan oil field lies 150 kilometres west of the Shetland Islands and 35 kilometres south of the Schiehallion field. Solan has significantly underperformed against initial expectations and the project has been value destructive. It was sanctioned in 2011 and brought onstream in 2016. Reservoir heterogeneity and restricted water injection rates led to poor production.
