State-owned TPAO, in partnership with Canada-based Trillion Energy, is developing the offshore South Akcakoca Sub-Basin (SASB) gas project. Prior to the Sakarya discovery in 2020, SASD was Türkiye's only Black Sea upstream supply. Four fields – Akkaya, Dogu Ayazli, Ayazli and Akcakoca – were commissioned in 2007-11 via fixed shallow-water platforms.
