Deepwater exploration began in 2010 and the BG-Ophir partnership made the first gas discoveries. Since then, the partners and the Statoil-led JV on Block 2 have discovered over 37 tcf of gas. BG (prior to the Shell acquisition) and Statoil have agreed commercial frameworks for a joint onshore LNG development.
