Taq Taq

Taq Taq

Report summary

Taq Taq is an oil field located in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, around 55 kilometres to the northeast of Kirkuk. The field produces a light crude from Cretaceous reservoirs and a heavy crude from the Pila Spi. A PSA was awarded to Genel Enerji, later Genel Energy, in 2002 and Addax joined in 2005. Production started, under a PSA, in 2008 and ramped-up to a daily peak of over 142,000 b/d in Q1 2015. The field is due to increase capacity, by around 5,000 b/d, to 150,000 b/d during 2016. However, a recent downgrade to reserves means that the full capacity will not be used. The field is directly connected to the Khurmala-Fishkabour pipeline. 2P reserves were downgraded to 172 million barrels in 2016.
