The Tarakan PSC allows the operator to explore beneath the known reservoirs of the Kalimantan TAC and other areas on Tarakan Island, offshore East Kalimantan. Initial oil production in 1989 was followed by first gas production in 1997. The main producing field, Mamburungan, is in decline and continued development drilling and well workovers will be required to boost and maintain production.
