Report summary
Topkhana is located in the southern part of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI), about 90 kilometres southeast of Kirkuk and adjacent to the Kurdamir field. Repsol assumed operatorship of Topkhana following after its acquisition of Talisman in May 2015. In September 2019, Repsol initiated its strategic exit from the Kurdistan Region by selling its operating stake in Kurdamir to its partner, WesternZagros, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Crest Energy International. At the time, Repsol also signalled its intention to divest Topkhana, although the process was delayed by legal disputes and regulatory hurdles. In May 2025, WesternZagros formally announced the acquisition of the Topkhana block after signing binding term sheets with the KRG. We continue to hold Topkhana with the KRG until a formal PSC is signed.
