The Tortue field is a giant, deepwater gas field straddling the border of Senegal and Mauritania. The field will be commercialised by a near-shore, FLNG development. In April 2015, Kosmos Energy made a giant play-opening gas discovery in Mauritania's offshore Block C-8 with its Tortue-1 well. Drilled to test the Tortue West prospect, it encountered 117 metres of net hydrocarbon pay with volumes exceeding the pre-drill gross prospective resources of 2.1 billion boe (circa 12 tcf of gas). ...
