Report summary
The Trans Alaska Pipeline System (TAPS) transports oil from the North Slope of Alaska to the ice-free port of Valdez. From Valdez, oil is primarily tankered to ports in the US Lower 48. The pipeline is almost 1,300 kilometres in length, traverses three mountain ranges and 800 rivers and streams. Construction of the pipeline began in March 1975, completed in May 1977 and first oil from Prudhoe Bay flowed through the line in June of the same year. Throughput peaked at 2.15 million b/d on ...
