In September 2003, the amalgamation of two junior oil and gas companies, Crescent Energy and Tappit Resources led to the creation of Crescent Point Energy. Following this amalgamation, Crescent Point employed an aggressive land acquisition strategy, although it has shifted towards development of the existing land base.
