2018 Wood Mackenzie Tokyo Power & Renewables Briefing

  • Chiyoda-ku, Japan
The global power market has undergone a major transformation over the past decades. Rigorous environmental policies and the decreasing cost of renewables are rapidly changing the way the power markets function. Wood Mackenzie has forecasted three regional markets of the EU, US and China reaching more than 20% of electricity generation from renewables by 2035. The uncertainty and variability of wind and solar generation can pose challenges for grid operators. The renewables integrated battery solutions become one of solutions to provide reliable energy supply under extreme weather conditions, flexibly response energy demands and shave peak loads to avoid demand charge. Which regions and markets will take the lead in renewables' growth and energy consumption? What are the challenges that still need to be overcome during the process of decarbonization? Will offshore wind become a major contributor? What role will energy storage play in this energy transition? These questions will be addressed in our 2018 Tokyo Power & Renewables Briefing. We will share our insights on power and renewables outlook on US, Europe and APAC markets and overview the impact of energy storage on energy transition. We will also provide plenty of opportunities for Q&A discussions and networking.
