Michelle Davis is the Head of Global Solar at Wood Mackenzie Power & Renewables, where she leads the company's solar research practice. She works closely with utilities, developers, investors, and policymakers to provide strategic guidance on solar market trends, investment decisions, and competitive positioning. Michelle sets the solar research agenda and identifies emerging industry themes that shape commercial opportunities across the global solar value chain.
She is well known for her role as lead author of the quarterly US Solar Market Insight report in collaboration with SEIA (the Solar Energy Industries Association), which serves as a critical benchmark for industry investment decisions. Michelle is a prominent thought leader in the solar industry and has been quoted in the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, the Financial Times, Bloomberg, NPR, and Forbes, among others.
Prior to joining Wood Mackenzie, Michelle held various research positions focused on renewable energy, covering topics ranging from the energy-water nexus to utility investments in electric-vehicle charging stations. She holds a BS in biology from Arizona State University and an MBA from Antioch University with a focus on sustainability. Michelle is the co-chapter leader for WRISE Arizona, a networking organization dedicated to empowering women in renewable energy. Michelle is based in sunny Tempe, Arizona.
