Report summary
Carbon Capture and Storage 2021 provides an updated view on the status of global CCS projects. This report is a continuation of our work tracking developments in the carbon capture market. Operational capture capacity grew from 41.9 to 47.1 Mtpa in 2020, with 19 projects added to the announced project pipeline. One previously operational project, Petra Nova, suspended operation as of August 2020. Three major projects were brought online in the past 14 month, adding a combined 7.8 Mtpa to the global operating capture capacity.
