Report summary
Shell reported solid, if unspectacular Q4 results. Earnings of US$3.3 billion were down 40% on Q3 2025, and down 11% on the same period last year, reflecting lower realised prices and a weaker contribution from trading, partly offset by higher upstream production and LNG sales. Much of the analyst Q&A centred on production longevity post-2030, and the options that Shell is considering – organic and inorganic – to strengthen the outlook. The broad message from leadership was that: we need to strengthen; we’re well placed to do so; all options are on the table; we’re in no rush; value creation is a prerequisite.
