Report summary
Eni is leaning further into its distinctive “satellite model” — forming focused joint ventures designed to fuel growth, attract capital, and derisk its portfolio of energy investments. Over the past year, Eni has brought new investors into Enilive and Plenitude, launched a new CCUS satellite and agreed a major upstream venture with PETRONAS in southeast Asia. At the same time, Eni remains a world-class oil and gas explorer. Its proven “dual exploration” strategy continues to deliver early monetisation of successful high-equity exploration, with the recent farm down to Vitol the latest example. These twin strategies position Eni uniquely in the sector. While several competitors have reassessed or reversed course on their energy transition strategies, Eni has held firm. Effective execution of the satellite model is enabling Eni to leverage its core strength in exploration while ensuring that non-upstream businesses remain adequately capitalised for growth through the cycle.
