As a high cost producer based primarily on naphtha feedstock, the European ethylene market is under pressure from low cost, ethane-based capacity in the Middle East and the United States. This Insight examines how European producers are responding to these pressures, from rationalising capacity, shifting to gas-based feedstock and investing in the production of higher value-added chemicals. European producers are repositioning in order to improve competitiveness in a changing global market.
