Last week, the Government of Alberta Canada awarded investment incentives of Can$300 million to Pembina Pipelines Corp and Can$200 million to InterPipeline Ltd as part of the Alberta's Petrochemical Diversification Program (PDP). The new Alberta incentive program certainly improves the likelihood that these two PDH projects will move forward, since high capital investment costs (25-30% higher than USGC), environmental compliance burdens, local tax rates, and high logistics costs have previously made these projects difficult to justify.
