On 19 March, ArcelorMittal Europe issued force majeure notices to its raw material suppliers, including US and Australian metallurgical coal suppliers. Numerous production reductions and blast furnace idlings were recently announced. ArcelorMittal's coke ovens may be spared production declines, but extended coal supply disruptions will force operators to consider their options soon.
