Asset Report
Bulga (Underground) coal mine
Report summary
Bulga (Underground) is located in the Hunter Valley of New South Wales and produced thermal coal for the export market. Bulga (Underground) formed part of the Bulga Complex, along with the adjacent Bulga surface mine (covered in a separate asset report), and was operated by Glencore on behalf of a joint venture before its closure in 2018. Mining moved from the original Beltana area to the Blakefield South area; for the purposes of this asset report we treat both areas as the Bulga Underground mine. A potential development of the Blakefield North area is covered under a separate asset report.
