Bumi Enggang Khatulistiwa coal mine

Report summary

Bumi Enggang Khatulistiwa (BEK) is a low-rank thermal coal mine located in the northeast of the Kutai Barat Regency in East Kalimantan. BEK has an IUP Operation and Production license which was granted in April 2011. The lease area is 4,570 ha. BEK was placed on care and maintenance in 2013. The mine still has reserves and could therefore be reopened, but will need significantly higher prices to make the mine economic.
