Carmichael (Underground) is one of several large projects being proposed in Queensland's Galilee Basin. In 2021, Bravus (formerly Adani Australia) commenced production at the Carmichael open-cut mine. The coal tenements are located approximately 160 kilometres north-west of the town of Clermont.
