The EPA has announced new National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS) for 24 hour ground level ozone impingement.  The new standard of 70 parts per billion (ppb) replaces the previous standard of 75 ppb that had been in place since 2008.  Ground level ozone is created from certain precursor compounds – for the most part nitrous oxides (NOx) and volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
