The eyes of the thermal coal world generally rest on China; however, most couldn't help but glance over at Europe's dropping prices. Seasonally-low demand in most Atlantic basin markets on warmer then usual weather, low gas and imported LNG prices, high renewables generation, high ARA stocks were the familiar factors weighing on prices. The effects of the US-China trade war on the Chinese economy remain a downside risk for coal consumption and imports into China.
