Commodity Market Report
Global thermal short-term outlook December 2023
Report summary
Seasonal increase in demand and moderate seaborne prices supported thermal coal imports in December. Supply disruptions in Australia caused sudden increase in Newcastle benchmark price while the trend was opposite for other high-CV prices. We expect the Newcastle price surge to ease and other coal prices to remain at current levels over the coming months.
