Commodity Market Report
Global thermal short-term outlook June 2023
Report summary
After a round of price collapses across major thermal coal benchmarks in May, seaborne markets seem to have found another resting point. Positive price support is coming largely from warm weather and subsequent increases in Chinese demand. With the resumption of Chinese-Australian trade, Australian imports to China reached a 2-year high. However, global supply is still strong and weather-related demand will be temporary.
