Grande Cache (Surface) coal mine
Report summary
Grande Cache Surface is a metallurgical coal producing mine located in the Smoky River coalfields in west central Alberta, Canada. The mine and its sister property, Grande Cache Underground (inactive), are owned and operated by CST Canada Coal Limited which purchased the properties in 2018 after Grande Cache Coal, under UP Energy, went into bankruptcy in 2017. The mine produces a low volatile hard coking coal for export globally with main customers in Japan and South Korea.
