The recovery in Indian power and steel continued to build momentum through Q1 2021. Strong economic growth post-lockdown has increased consumption of goods across all sectors. However, there are a few risks to imports. The supply-demand imbalance of domestic coal is resulting in huge stockpiles. The government’s import substitution drive has shown mixed results but has lowered imports in power sector.
