Inner Mongolia (East) coal supply summary
Report summary
Inner Mongolia is the largest coal-producing province in China. In 2023, it accounted for 26.0% of the country's total production. The eastern region contains the Chifeng, Hulunbeier, Tongliao and Xilingol prefectures and accounts for one-third of Inner Mongolia's production. Inner Mongolia (East) produces lignite from large surface mines. The region has the lowest mining costs in China. It consists of large surface mines with low strip ratios and easy mining conditions.
