Report summary
Peabody is the third largest producer and the largest overall reserve holder in the Illinois Basin, with four operating mines spanning Illinois and Indiana. Peabody controls multiple projects with abundant reserves but under current market conditions, production from these new mines will largely replace existing mines with depleting reserves. Wood Mackenzie’s asset reports are built from the bottom up, incorporating a number of granular data metrics to ultimately produce our industry standard cash operating costs. This qualitative and quantitative analysis is supplemented by the associated Excel download which enables interrogation of cost and production metrics over the life of the assets.
