Ulan (Underground) is a longwall operation producing thermal coal for export markets and is located in New South Wales. It is part of the Ulan complex, which includes the Ulan West underground mine (covered in a separate analysis) and the Ulan surface mine that was closed in 2016. The Ulan complex operates within mining leases ML 1341, ML 1366, ML 1468, ML 1511, ML 1554, consolidated coal lease CCL 741, and exploration licences EL 7542 and EL8687.
