Report summary
This insight presents the latest global review of global carbon licensing, leasing and permitting activity in H1 2024. Activity slowed compared with the previous period, with most activity occurring in Europe. The first half of the year saw continued involvement from oil and gas majors in licensing rounds, and several M&A events, driving growth of the CCUS sector. Carbon storage regulations are developing further in established regions. In the US, more states are taking or applying for primacy, while in Europe the Net Zero Industry Act has been passed. Policy development in the Asia Pacific region is expected to boost activity in the second half of the year.
