Commodity Market Report
Kuwait energy markets long-term outlook 2015
Report summary
Kuwait is a member of OPEC and a major oil and gas producer. The vast majority of its gas production is associated gas. Consequently, gas production is dependent on rates of oil production, which in the past have been constrained by Kuwait's OPEC quotas. Oil accounts for almost two-thirds of energy demand but the share of gas has increased significantly in recent years, driven by its expanding use in power generation, water desalination, refining and petrochemical projects.
