Report summary
Total is to acquire a 74% stake in Direct Energie, France's first independent electricity retailer, for approximately 1.4 billion euros. It is the company's largest investment in low-carbon assets to date. The deal will position Total as France's second largest supplier (after EDF) of natural gas and power, and will also take Total's 900 MW power generation portfolio to a new level, adding Direct Energie existing 800 MW of gas-fired and 550 MW of mixed renewables capacity.
