The association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) celebrates its 50th anniversary this year. Since its inception in 1967, ASEAN has grown a lot, from a 5-country alliance with a GDP of US$23 billion, to the 6th largest economy in the world, with a combined GDP of US$2.8 trillion in 2017. ASEAN has enjoyed strong economic growth of 5% over the past decade, and the outlook for the region is robust. As the region grows richer, energy demand is booming. In this insight, we discuss the growth and opportunities in the region's buoyant gas and power markets.
