Can Canadian gas production grow without Canadian LNG exports?
This report is currently unavailable
Report summary
Canadian LNG exports have been hailed as the saviour by the Canadian gas producers in recent years as they will tap into Canada's vast under-developed and remote resource base. Based on Wood Mackenzie's spring assessment of global gas markets, four western Canadian projects looked viable – ramping up LNG exports to 4.4 bcfd by 2030. However, there remains the risk that the western Canadian gas resource could be stranded indefinitely, and an alternative forecast scenario is one with no western Canadian LNG export projects. Three factors will support continued growth in WCSB production even without these projects.
