Do European utilities still have an appetite to buy LNG?
Report summary
As the energy transition takes hold in Europe, utilities are at various states of re-evaluating their positions across the gas value chain. This has led to the largest utilities adopting divergent strategies – especially in whether they have the appetite to commit to LNG. The pricing and terms of contracting LNG remain key issues for European utilities. It is clear the fundamentals support LNG import growth in the European market. What is less clear is what part Europe’s utilities play – and whether they can leverage their incumbent advantages. The choice will have significant implications for the wider LNG market.
