North America gas weekly update: Cool down?
Report summary
Sizzling temperatures, especially out in the West and East, had resulted in a significant rally of Henry Hub gas prices. Additive have been a return of LNG feed gas levels from early seasonal maintenance, record Mexican exports and a NGL pipeline issue resulting in an outage of Northeast gas processing plants. Although temperatures may not be cooling down, even with Tropical Storm Elsa set to be a rainmaker, Henry Hub gas prices may be if the following occur: • Higher gas prices encourage more coal generation over gas • Northeast production resumes its growth trajectory post processing plant outage • Seasonal LNG maintenance resumes, even earlier potentially for Cove Point
