North America gas weekly update: Freeport LNG readies for restart
Report summary
About 250 days since its explosion in early June 2022, Freeport LNG’s restart is finally occurring. While it awaits FERC approval to start introducing feegas for liquefaction, it has already begun exporting cargos from storage. A gradual utilization ramp up to prior levels should tighten up gas markets just as heating demand is starting its seasonal decline. Where do North American gas markets go from here? • Will colder weather return later in February? • Does the storage surplus expand further? • Are there any signs of slowing down supply growth?
