Higher than expected weekly injections into underground natural gas inventories have occurred despite the early onset of peak summer demand. Although the storage surplus versus the five-year average has contracted about 105 bcf (~15%) since its peak in early March, can it continue? US gas production is starting to rebound swiftly following spring pipe maintenance, and Henry Hub gas prices have nearly doubled from this spring’s low. This weekly natural gas commodity report seeks to explore: • Where is US LNG maintenance occurring? • Why is Northeast production rebounding? • How much is Mountain Valley Pipeline (MVP) flowing initially?
