North America gas weekly update: Supply optionality
Report summary
A string of weekly gas storage withdrawals above -200 bcf are expected that will draw down US Lower 48 working gas inventories rapidly. However, it would still pale in comparison to the four consecutive and six total weekly storage withdrawal above -200 bcf that occurred during the polar vortex impacted winter 2013/14. When production is unable to meet demand requirements, supply optionality needs to kick into high gear largely through storage. In addition, access to imports from Canada and elsewhere helps out as well. The current cold spell can be absorbed and ample storage volumes exist for this winter.
