North America gas weekly update: US gas production normalizes lower
Report summary
An early July Permian production “head fake” higher has since normalized and assuaged market concerns that US gas production growth was accelerating. Nonetheless, the Permian does continue to grow, facilitated by higher Mexican exports and increased regional summer demand. Before the end of the year, more than 1 bcfd of new takeaway capacity from the region will be offered through compression enhancement projects. The weekly commodity report seeks to explore: • What might have caused elevated Permian production? • How high will gas generation increase with even higher cooling degree days ahead? • Where will storage injections bottom out?
