Our top ten Insights of 2018: WoodMac Gas & LNG research
Report summary
The top 10 incorporates the breadth and depth of the world's most important gas and LNG developments of 2018; including: China's huge growth rate and how its trucking fleet became a flexible pipeline, Australia's plans to start importing LNG and the US LNG export phenomenon. Our series of reports on Russia's Yamal, which witnessed one of LNG's most impressive ramp-ups, also caught readers' eyes. The second half of the top 10 was as varied as the first: Asia's big LNG buyers got big attention as they re-entered the market. LNG was also a hot topic in Europe, where we pushed the view that pipeline constraints would be good news for LNG imports through the coming year. The potential impact of pipeline developments in the US Midwest also made the list, while our big picture take on gas in a transitioning world was another top read. Bringing the top 10 to a close is Europe's underappreciated gas storage – underappreciated by the market, but not our clients.
